To be a kid again

Watching the ways that Jack comes up with to entertain himself amazes me. To get such a kick out of a ball pit, or a train, a car, tupperware dish, I spy books..., says so much. I hope I never forget these times, along with all that he has to teach me as well.
P.S. Claire's time is coming to:)

Out in the dark...

Left my house at 10:30 pm to find a shot and had no idea where i was going to go. Thought I would try downtown for a skyline shot of the city, until I drove by the Basilica of Saint Mary. "Recognized as one of the finest examples of Beaux Arts architecture in the country, the Basilica of Saint Mary was constructed between 1907 and 1915. It's also the first Basilica in the United States, honored by Pope Pius XI in 1926." Amazing they could build something so amazing without modern technology over 100 years ago.

Harry P Leu Gardens

Took a relaxing day of hanging out and a day trip to the Harry P Leu Gardens in Orlando. We saw trees that we didnt even know existed, one in particular had 6 inch SHARP spikes coming out of the trunk! No climbing for Jack on that one.

What to do with a palm tree in a dark parking ??? BARK

We arrived in Florida today, and LOVE the weather! By the time we settled into our hotel it was late, dark nothing around. Had a few palm trees under fluoresent lights in a dark parking lot. So this is not a very good pic, ill give you that. But it was challenging to try and make something out of nothing. Excited for tommorows possibilities! 25Sec exposure, f9 iso200 no flash...

Seeing Green

It finally hit me tonight that we will be in warm weather, outside, shorts, sandals, kids running at park and all in 40 hours from now in Florida!

This winter has been tough with a 1 and 3 yr old, trapped inside everyday. It will be so nice to find a park, kick off our shoes and just watch them run around and play.

BlackDog Again

My new favorite spot for shooting pictures has to be BlackDog NSP Power Plant. I drive right by there every tuesday and Friday on the way into the office. There are just so many cool shots to get there, I could do the rest of the year there! If you are interested there are about 35 miles of Mountain Bike trails starting from West of 169 and going all of the way past Fort Snelling and into St. Paul along the Minnesota River. Mitch, Troy, Matt, Brandon and the rest of us used to ride these trails daily. Must have had an impression, Mitch moved out west and has won many ameteur biking contests, and Troy has placed in the top 25 in the pro ranks and is now currently sponsored. We would ride there so often, but always see something new. Definatley check it out sometime for a ride, or even a hike. If you go to the end of any of the following roads it will take you right in."Old cedar, portland, Nicollet, Lyndale.

Frosty Day

I Found myself with an extra hour this morning on the way back from eagan, so I took a while to walk around by the Black Dog power plant and found some really cool shots. Black Dog power plant keeps the Minnesota river hot, so steam and frost everywhere. Cold again, but just so beautiful down there. More pics to come...

Spring in Winter

Driving late to an appointment when I saw this little spring bubbling in a field on the side of a dirt road I was driving on in Forest Lake. I had to stop and shoot this picture of more water that hadn't completley froze over despite below zero temps. Was a good day...

Trapped inside!

Another day well below zero, I think that we are all bouncing off the walls a bit. Florida is 2 weeks out and it can not come soon enough.

End of Holidays

The holidays came to an end as we all got together one last time at Amanda's 2nd cousins (John and Sandra). Jack especially loved the holidays and will miss being spoiled rotten, and seeing his cousins so often. This was the first year that Jack really could grasp the idea of christmas, it's sad to see it end. However its nice to think of claire being a whole year older for christmas 2010 and all of the changes that will bring.

1st Day of a Picture a day for the Year!

Checked out Beth's blog last night and reminded myself why I love photography. Things can get so hectic and complicated at times that it is easy to overlook the big picture, (including photography). It was nice to get out of the house on this freezing day and just shoot a few pictures. This is the Anoka dam on the first day of the year. It is10 degrees below zero, yet the water is still flowing...Love that
